Petroleum Jelly

Laurel went running this morning and all of the girls were playing around in our room. Savanna came up to me and told me how good of a helper she was by wiping Emma's nose (Emma has been a little sick). She then told me how Emma had a little scratch on her nose. I told her that I would take a look. Both Savanna and Madalyn discussed that it would be a good idea to put a bandaid on it. I laughed and told them I would probably just put some petroleum jelly on it. Savanna looked really confused.

"What is trolum jelly", she asked. I smiled and told her I would show her in a minute. A few minutes later I caught up to Emma to wipe her nose. As I was struggling to wipe a moving target, I noticed that it wasn't a scratch on her nose, rather a little bloody booger.

As I continued to try to wipe it off, Savanna asked, "Do you want me to go get you some jam?"

I was royally confused, "What?"

"Jam...that is what you said before."

I laughed, "Oh no, it's something different, sweety." I showed her the jar of petroleum jelly and explained that you can put it on cuts to help protect it.

I can just picture Savanna imaging me spreading raspberry jam all over Emma's nose. No wonder Savanna gave me a wierd look. Sometimes she thinks I am crazy (half the time she is right).

I love your kids... they are so cute. I have a soft spot for that Savanna, I don't know why... maybe it's her independent nature.
